Firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62 Now Ready for Xperia Handsets

- New firmware ready for Xperia devices

Sony Ericsson's Xperia devices should soon get a taste of a software update, and it appears that the build is already prepared for shipping.

A new firmware is ready for Xperia handsets, namely software version number 4.0.2.A.0.62, the PTCRB site unveils.

Unfortunately, this is not the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform update that users might have been waiting for.

Instead, it is only a maintenance update, aimed at delivering a series of bug fixes for Sony Ericsson Xperia arc and arc S, Xperia neo and neo V, and Xperia PLAY handsets.

The software is expected to be pushed to all devices in the MENA (Middle East North Africa) region, but no specific info on when it will start to emerge has been unveiled so far. According to some reports, Sony Ericsson might have already begun to deliver the software.

Tips and Tricks: Updating your Sony Ericsson Xperia Smartphone to the latest version of Android

06 November 2011 - Sony Ericsson has just announced that the Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) is available now and here is how you going to update your Xperia smartphone.

Before you proceed, backup all your precious data stored in your Xperia smartphone. The Xperia smartphones which are applicable to this update are:

Xperia arc
Xperia PLAY
Xperia neo
Xperia mini
Xperia mini pro
Xperia pro
Xperia ray
Xperia active
Xperia neo V
Xperia arc S
Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman

The prerequisites for the update are:

PC Companion
USB Cable
Xperia smartphone
Internet connection (Note: Broadband connection is recommended)

Steps:

1. Choose your phone model and download the PC Companion here

2.      Install the PC Companion

3.      Run the PC Companion and connect your Xperia smartphone via the USB cable

4.      Under Support Zone, click Start

5. Under Phone Software Update, click Start

6.      Follow the on screen instruction

7. Click Update (Note: If there is an update for your smartphone, the software will ask you whether you want to update now or later)

8. The software will then automatically download and install the update to your Xperia smartphone (Note: This process may take some time, depending on the speed of your Internet connection)

WARNING: Do NOT unplug the USB cable at this moment

9. Once the update installation is done, the software will prompt you to disconnect the USB cable and restart your Xperia smartphone (Note: Restarting after update may take longer than usual. This is normal.)

WARNING: Do NOT remove the battery

10. Congratulations. You have successfully update your Xperia smartphone.

Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S preview

31 August 2011 – Sony Ericsson has unveiled its latest Android smartphone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S at IFA 2011 in Berlin, Germany. Apparently, the Xperia Arc S is revised version of the original Xperia Arc.

Sony Ericsson has bumped up the processor to 1.4GHz and added 3D and 2D sweep panorama photography. Among other features would be similar with the original Xperia arc including 4.2-inch Reality display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine (480 x 854 resolution pixels), 8.1-megapixel camera with Exmor R image sensor, 320MB internal storage and supports microSD card up to 32GB.

Plus, Sony Ericsson has also introduced Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited services to Xperia smartphones soon.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S comes in five colors, Pure White, Midnight Blue, Misty Silver, Gloss Black and Sakura Pink. It is expected to release in October 2011.
